Today, let’s talk about the precautions for stone imitation paint construction.

1. Construction of Stone Imitation Paint Primer
The primer can only be applied after the putty layer is completely dry and floating dust is removed. There are two common types of primers: penetrating primer and sealing primer, available in transparent, white and black.
Penetrating primer: penetrates into the wall, seals wall cracks, improves substrate hardness and reinforces the wall.
Sealing primer: mainly enhances substrate hardness with relatively weaker sealing performance.
It is recommended to apply penetrating primer first, then sealing primer.
When dividing grids with black primer, it is advised to apply transparent penetrating primer first, then use black primer for grid division. This prevents black primer from peeling off with the masking tape when the putty layer is not hard enough.
2. Construction of Intermediate Coat
Apply two coats evenly from top to bottom and left to right, avoiding issues like uneven coverage, color inconsistency, mottling and color bleeding. The standard is uniform color, with a total coating thickness controlled at about 2–3 mm.
3. Construction of Main Stone Imitation Paint
Conduct sample testing for color confirmation when each batch arrives at the construction site.
Adjust the spray gun air pressure and nozzle diameter to appropriate levels.
Spray the topcoat 1–2 times evenly on the dry intermediate coat surface.
4. Construction of Varnish
Spray the finishing varnish only after the stone imitation paint is fully dry (at least 2 days on sunny days).
Do not apply too thick at one time to prevent sagging.
Normally apply 1–2 coats with a 4-hour interval.
Better effect: roll coating for the first coat, spray coating for the second coat.
5. Construction Environment
Temperature: 5°C–40°C
Air humidity: 60%–70%; no construction when humidity exceeds 85% or on rainy days.
Ensure no heavy rain within 24 hours after spraying.
Construction can only start after wet walls are completely dry.
No spraying when wind force exceeds level 4.
