Interior Wall Water-Based Paint
1. Natural Drying
Natural drying is easy to operate and widely applicable, but it has the disadvantage of slow drying speed. Under natural conditions, unstable temperature, humidity and wind speed can lead to fluctuations in drying speed and film-forming quality. In high-temperature, high-humidity or humid environments, the paint tends to turn white and dry slowly.
In low-temperature environments, the drying speed is extremely slow. Especially when the temperature is below 5°C, water-based coatings are difficult to form a film. These are important factors restricting the popularization and application of water-based coatings.
2.Hot Air Drying
Hot air drying is a heating and drying method based on the principle of convection. It uses hot air at 40–60°C as the heat carrier to transfer thermal energy to the coating on the workpiece surface; the coating absorbs energy and then cures to form a film. Electricity or steam is commonly used as the heat source to first heat the air. Heat is transferred to the coating surface via convection by hot air, allowing rapid drying of the coating. The hot air drying process can significantly accelerate the drying speed and features strong adaptability, making it a widely applied drying method.
3.Microwave Drying
Microwave refers to penetrating electromagnetic waves with a wavelength of 1 mm–1 m and a frequency of 300 MHz–300 GHz; the commonly used microwave frequency is 915–2450 MHz. Microwave heating is based on the principle of dielectric loss. Since the dielectric constant of water is much higher than that of dry matter, most of the energy released by the electromagnetic field is absorbed by moisture in the coating. The microwave field periodically changes the direction of the applied electric field at a high speed of billions of times per second, causing water molecules to oscillate rapidly and generate a significant thermal effect. As a result, the temperature inside and on the surface of the coating rises quickly and simultaneously. The advantages of microwave heating include extremely fast drying speed, selective absorption of microwaves by different substances, no shape requirements for the object to be dried, uniform heating of the paint film without temperature gradient, and the ability to dry thick films.
